Reach out to Bay Area organizations that need money to feed homeless youth.

Outreach:

Individuals and Corporations that will agree to donate money based on total number of strikeouts each year of high school softball season ending June 1, 2014.

Goal:

Target goal of delivering $5000 (which will serve over 2400 meals and other services) in funds to be given to the Bay Area Rescue Mission during a ceremony in September 2013.

About Rachel Sanders:

I am a junior at Holy Names High School in Oakland California, and I attend Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  My passion is to play softball and the violin.  When I graduate from college, I hope to become an architect.  Currently I live with my parents, and my older sister attends college in South Carolina.  Growing up in Oakland, I have seen many disturbing things, but nothing more troubling than knowing kids my age are alone on the streets and without a home or regular meals.  Help me help others.

About the Bay Area Rescue Mission:

I selected the rescue mission to team with because they provide shelter, food, clothing, skills training, and counseling for the homeless and the impoverished of the Bay Area.  http://www.bayarearescue.org/

The Bay Area Rescue Mission is an IRS recognized 501(c)3 nonprofit.  Your support may be used as a tax-deduction. The Federal Identification Number (EIN) is 94-6124054.

Thank you very much for helping me strikeout hunger in our community.  I have seen and heard of too many kids not having as little as daily meals.  Many are homeless and do not have a roof over their heads.  What we will provide is a small gift of nourishment for these children, but it is just a start.  I hope to do this again next year!

Hi Rachel,
I’m happy to support your project with an online donation from another HN Class of 1954 alum.

Hi Ms. Profet,

Thank you for your monetary support as well as emotional support. I was reluctant to start this movement/project because I am a little shy. But after thinking about it again and again, something came over me to take this path and not worry about the shyness or reluctance. I may not hit my goal, but just knowing that every $2 will provide one meal and other services is reassuring to me that it will help many people. Class of 1954? That is pretty awesome!
